Guideline for Weld Joint Finishes -- Aluminum
- Components to be welded and/or polished must have “Class A”, “Class B”, “Class C” or “Special” cosmetic classification prior to acceptance of Customer Purchase Order.
- Specifications are as follows:

Class A
One-Piece Appearance -- Most Costly
Materials will not be pre-polished prior to fabrication. Welders will add filler so no under-cut will be present. Welds will be ground smooth and entire surface will be satin polished to a one-piece appearance.

Class B
Minimal Touch-Up -- Less Costly
Materials will not be pre-polished prior to fabrication. Welders will TIG weld with filler so no under-cut will be present. Welds will not be ground smooth. Discoloration from welding and marks from straightening will be removed. Minor scratches or die marks will be removed. Entire surface will be polished however welds will be visible.

Class C
No Touch-Up -- Least Costly
Materials will not be pre-polished prior to fabrication. Welders will TIG weld with filler, so no under-cut will be present. Welds will not be ground. Discoloration from welding and marks from straightening may be present. Minor scratches (not to exceed 0.030” in depth) and/or die marks may be present. Entire surface will not be polished
