Ultra-tec® Cable Railing System Overview of Features
|
- Railing frame components can be specified in a variety of materials: carbon steel pipe; structural tubing; stainless steel; and wood.
- Finishes can include: unfinished; galvanized; primed and painted; #4; and powder coated.
- Type 316 stainless steel cable and hardware are used. Due to the increased amounts of nickel and the addition of molybdemun, type 316 stainless steel has excellent resistance to atmospheric and general corrosive conditions.
- Our exclusive Invisiware® hardware is hidden inside the end posts, so it is virtually invisible. We also offer hardware which is visible when installed but is streamlined with smooth rounded corners and is more compact than awkward turnbuckles intended for other uses. All of our hardware has been designed specifically for pedestrian cable railings and is arguably the very best available for that use.
- All Ultra-tec® Cable Railing System hardware can be swaged in the field, by using one of our portable swaging tools. Swaging in the field allows intermediate posts and braces to be bored just slightly oversized of the diameter of the cable being used, as only the cable will have to pass through. Otherwise, the intermediate posts and braces have to be bored slightly over the larger diameter of the swaged fitting which will have to pass through the intermediate post or brace. (If desired, fittings can be swaged onto one or both of the cable ends at the factory.) By using our pre-tensioning tool, runs of up to 150 ft. and longer can be achieved while maintaining tight cable tension using our hardware.
- Our stylish tubed corner sections, which can be prefabricated at our factory, allow a change in direction without risk of damage to the cables. At the same time, they offer the streamlined look of a continuous piece of cable (which runs through the tube) and eliminate the cost and visual obstruction of additional mounting and tensioning hardware. Tubed corner sections can be provided in many styles and angles, including a simultaneous change in direction with a change in elevation. We will gladly assist in the design of tubed corner sections not illustrated in our standard specifications.
- When ordered from the factory, all posts and other railing components (including vertical system top and bottom rails) are drilled and counter-bored where required using CNC milling equipment to insure product uniformity and accuracy. This is also the least expensive method of boring posts and rails.
- We stock a wide variety of standard styles and sizes of railing hardware and components, which can be shipped to your fabricator or to the job site.
