May the Fourth Be With You

As we celebrate “Star Wars” day, I present to you one of my favorite railing photos.

I’ve mentioned before how I tend to see railings everywhere — in particular in movies and television.

This particular one makes me laugh for two reasons. First is that as an area not open to the general public, this guardrail should meet OSHA requirements — which it does not. There is no toe board and it’s missing a mid-rail.

Secondly, is the safety mechanisms (i.e. mattresses) that were in place to protect Mark Hamill in case he fell.
